Not Just Sledding: Snow Day Fun for Preschoolers

In honor of the first snowfall of 2017, today we want to share some fun snow activities you can do with your kids. Snow days can be great days to spend some extra time with your kids, creating fun memories, and even helping your kids continue their learning when they’re not at school. These activities are fun and definitely all about play; but they contain opportunities to use vocabulary, experiment with color and materials, and engage in creative activities. Keep reading for some chilly fun!

From Crystal at Growing a Jeweled Rose, check out this fun Snow Paint activity. You can make the paints with liquid watercolor, food coloring, or even Kool-Aid. Make a rainbow in the snow; write your name in the snow; draw a picture in the snow. Try mixing colors to see what happens!

From Melissa at Fireflies and Mud Pies, here’s a fun one to try when it’s really cold: Freezing Bubbles. See how the cold changes your bubbles. Watch the ice form on your bubbles, and see if you can make a bubble that will collapse or shatter rather than popping!
